a green dream
These polaroids were taken with my sx-70 in Gardiner park on a dreamy dreamy afternoon. My kickass friend Hillary came to hang out on the island. She felt like escaping the NYC summer intern scene for a while. The center photo is Hillary’s polaroid photographer debut, and the top and bottom were taken by me.

children of the stars
Happy Wednesday! Let’s celebrate with some more shots from the motion project (which is really just my excuse to play around with golden star confetti).
Next up is a series on depth of field. Get ready for some seriously up close shots.

yes, I am alive and well. and now in New York!
maia of the stars
I am unpacked (for the most part) and have finally nested enough to call this room my home.
Where have you been?! I hear you question in your mind.
I’ve been busy. And it skeeves me out just saying it.
I don’t like “busy people”. Always telling you what they just have no time for these days, because they just have so much on their plate right now. Except right now is really all the time with them. I’m not the type, and using the business excuse never really flies with me, but hear me out. I’ve moved my entire life’s stuff from Miami to Long Island, kicked off my internship with the awesome organization Cafe.Soulfood, interviewed for a new part time job up here, and participated in my first two weeks of a digital photography course I’ve enrolled in as part of the summer program at University.
YEAH.
It’s been quite a crazy two weeks. But I have some pretty pictures to show you from my first two assignments from the photo course! The photo above was part of our motion assignment. We have to demonstrate the three basic motion captures, and Maia, my adorable, freakily doll-like cousin was happy to help with my frozen motion assignment. We used golden star confetti and the perfect afternoon light to make the shot.
Here are some others from my scavenger hunt shot list:
The last photograph is another motion capture—motion blurred subject. I chose one of my radical translucent scarves to help out. To me, it looks like a sort of aura carriage. Whatever that is. Keep your eyes peeled for my third motion capture photograph (to be unveiled Monday, since the assignment is due on Tuesday anyway).

homeward bound
what home looks like to me
There’s just about two hours to go before I begin my marathon drive from Miami to New York.
I’m coming home, and I can’t wait to partake in a most excellent summer.
Departure is at crispy crispy 3am. See you Tuesday night!

yesterday I turned 21.

Yesterday was my 21st birthday. I am alive today.
Someone buy me a drink!
I’ll tell you, celebrating your 21st birthday in breezy Miami is quite an adventure. I plan on continuing festivities into the weekend. Did I mention that my finals are officially OVER? Yeah, I’m in full-fledged celebration mode. I should probably remember to pack for my move to New York at some point this weekend. In the meantime… pass me that margarita!

not through yet, but almost there.
Things just got a little more blue here at the owl, with a fresh theme remix.
I’m really liking it.
Though I’m still in the middle of finals, I managed a spare hour or two for some polaroid action, posted above. I’ve been secretly trolling the ‘Roid Week flickr group, and have made a wonderful collection of my favorites that I’m looking forward to sharing with you guys next week. Until then, enjoy this appropriately titled track:

crunch time
{ via buu }
This is how I feel right now. Blurry. Vacuous. Scratched out.
It’s the last week of classes. I’ve been writing papers every afternoon and night, and preparing notes for my final exams. This happens every last week— it’s crunch time.
You know what crunch time deserves? Awesome youtube videos!
This is a great cover of an already awesome song. So much soul!
And this will definitely make you dance.
Okay, I think I’ll go lay face down on the grass now.
